Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT)

About Us

Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) provides free assistive telephone equipment to qualifying Maryland residents. Devices are available to customers who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, DeafBlind or have a cognitive, mobility, or speech disability. The MAT Program was established in 1996 and provides equipment on a long-term loan basis.

 

Services

We understand customers have different abilities and communication needs. The MAT Program provides free telephone assessments so customers can try a variety of devices and learn which is the most appropriate. After customers receive their telephone, MAT also provides free installation and training, if necessary.

 

 

Directions

There are five (5) MAT Assessment Centers located in Maryland. MAT Practitioners provide telephone evaluations, installation, training and trouble-shooting to customers in their territories. Please call Customer Service for more information about scheduling an assessment.
